The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) conducts all supplier quality & supplier development activities for Caudwell Marine (CM). This will include working closely with the Procurement Director and the Engineering Director as the BoM cost is optimised, and supplier audits are undertaken. You will be responsible for ensuring that all suppliers are audited through a robust process, with an ongoing development plan for continuous improvement; those parts are approved for production supply utilising the APQP à PPAP workflow; and to develop general Supplier Quality and Supplier Development Plans and Processes for ongoing process and supplier excellence.
Responsibilities:
Be the Caudwell Marine expert in Supplier Quality Management of all aspects of supplier quality performance activities working within Caudwell Marine quality team
Defining & track the correct KPI’s to ensure industry leading quality performance from the Caudwell Marine supply base
Develop the supply base to ensure they fulfil the Caudwell Marine requirements across the key quality areas: delivered quality, on time delivery performance and continuous improvement as a minimum
Collaborate with suppliers to form mutually beneficial partnerships with Caudwell Marine.
Assess, measure, and develop suppliers via on-site Quality, Cost, Logistics, Development, Management (QCLDM)
Implementation of Lean, Best in Quality, Production Parts Approval Process (PPAP) & Advanced Parts Quality Planning (APQP)
Carry out supplier audits (remote & on site) to implement lean activity
Participate in BoM-wide Value Add/ Value Engineering activities.
Review supplier capacity in readiness for planned production run rates, using standard Overall Effectiveness & Run at Rate activities.
Ensure process control standards are in place and monitored, identifying improvement opportunities.
Monitor suppliers’ adherence to ECN (Engineering Change Notification) & PCN (Process Change Notification)
Review, Approve and validate 8D permanent corrective action plans.
Take ownership of the Supplier Quality Records Database.
Operate as part of the wider Caudwell Marine supply chain team to identify and implement best practice in pursuit of business objectives
Previous Experience:
At least 5 years’ experience in Supplier Quality Assurance/Supplier Development in an Engineering or Manufacturing environment
Longer experience will be valued as will demonstratable experience of managing Supplier Quality / Development with powertrain suppliers
Experience in & good understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodology
At least 2 years in a ‘blue chip’ manufacturing / engineering organisation where ‘automotive level’ procurement and supply chain processes and practices have been demonstrated
Ideally has also worked in a Small, Medium Enterprise (SME) and is able to demonstrate the ability to ‘roll their sleeves up’ and personally get things done as part of a small team

Primary location of Coventry, with travel to suppliers as necessary
Working Hours & Hybrid Policy: The standard working hours for this role are Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We offer a hybrid working arrangement, requiring three days in the office, including a mandatory in-office day on Wednesdays, and two days working from home. Flexibility may be required based on business needs.
Salary range: £48,000 - £52,000/annum
