This week a number of changes to the business immigration system were confirmed with most changes being implemented on 12 April 2023. The changes:

Minimum salary thresholds and the going rates for individual occupations will increase on 12 April 2023 to reflect current wage inflation. The going rates will also change to be based on a 37.5-hour week, rather than the current 39-hour week, to reflect a more common working pattern.

Skilled Workers
The minimum salary threshold for applicants for a Skilled Worker visa will increase from £25,600 a year to £26,200 a year. The minimum equivalent hourly rate will increase from at least £10.10 per hour to at least £10.75 per hour.

The minimum rates to qualify for tradeable points for salary (based on an applicant's other attributes, such as holding a relevant STEM PhD or being classed as a new entrant to the labour market), are also due to increase. Where the current tradeable points minimum rate of pay is £20,480 a year, this will increase to £20,960 a year. Where the current minimum rate is £23,040 a year, this will increase to £23,580 a year.
