Whilst there is no legal maximum working temperature in the UK, employers have a duty under the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992 to ensure workplace temperatures are "reasonable" and to manage risks associated with hot weather.
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) expects employers to assess and control risks posed by high temperatures, particularly for those working outdoors or undertaking physically demanding work.

✔ Ensure employees have access to cool drinking water.
✔ Improve ventilation and provide fans or cooling equipment where possible.
✔ Allow additional rest breaks during periods of extreme heat.
✔ Consider relaxing workplace dress codes where appropriate.
✔ Provide shaded areas for employees working outdoors.
✔ Review whether vulnerable employees, such as pregnant workers or those with health conditions, require additional support.
